Newsletter Privacy Notice
Newsletter privacy notice: quick summary
Newsletter privacy notice: what personal data Burak Engineering processes when you subscribe, the purpose, legal basis, retention period and your rights.
This notice explains how your personal data is processed when you subscribe to the Burak Engineering newsletter. It is prepared under Article 10 of Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (“KVKK”). This translation is provided for information only; the binding text is the Turkish version.
1. Data Controller
Burak Engineering (Burak Ün)
E-mail: burak@burakengineering.com.tr
2. Personal Data Processed
Within the scope of the newsletter subscription, only the following data are processed:
- Your e-mail address — so the newsletter can be delivered to you.
- Your subscription status and timestamps — pending / confirmed status, together with record creation and update dates.
- Confirmation verification key — a technical value generated so that the confirmation link can be created uniquely for you.
- Temporary rate-limit record — to prevent abuse of the form, your IP address is converted into a value derived with a site-specific secret key (HMAC-SHA256) and used as a counter key; the IP address cannot be recovered from this value. Your IP address is not stored in your newsletter record. This temporary counter is kept with a 1-hour validity that renews on each attempt and is deleted by WordPress’s regular cleanup task once it expires.
Your name, phone number, address or any other personal data are not requested or processed for the newsletter subscription.
Note for the site in general: Independently of the newsletter record, as with all traffic on our site, when you submit this form our hosting provider’s server access logs and the firewall software used on our site (Wordfence) record your request together with your IP address. These records are not part of the newsletter subscription; they are kept for security and server-operation purposes.
3. Purpose of Processing
Your personal data are processed solely to create your newsletter subscription, to run the double opt-in confirmation process, and to deliver by e-mail the content you consented to. Your data are not sold, rented, or used outside these purposes.
4. Legal Basis
The newsletter process has two stages, each with its own legal basis:
- When you submit the form: your e-mail address is recorded with a pending status, only to send you the confirmation link and to log this request. No newsletter is sent to you at this stage. If you do not confirm, this record is automatically deleted within 7 days at the latest (see §7).
- When you click the confirmation link: your explicit consent for newsletter delivery arises at that moment under KVKK Art. 5/1. Your subscription does not start, and no newsletter is sent, until you click the link.
You may withdraw your consent at any time (see §9).
5. Method of Collection
Your data are collected electronically and automatically, through your completing the newsletter form on our website and then using the confirmation link sent to you by e-mail.
6. Transfer
To operate the newsletter service, your data are processed by the following service providers only to the extent this service requires:
- Natro — hosting of our website and database.
- kurumsaleposta.com — delivery of confirmation and newsletter e-mails. Our sending infrastructure keeps a delivery record of the e-mails sent (recipient address, subject, e-mail body, send date and status) for technical and deliverability purposes.
Apart from this, your data are not shared with third parties. Our hosting provider’s server access logs are kept under the provider’s own retention policy.
7. Retention Period
- Unconfirmed records: if you do not click the confirmation link, your pending record is deleted by an automatically running task within 7 days at the latest of its creation.
- Confirmed records: your e-mail address is kept for as long as your subscription lasts.
- When you unsubscribe: your record is removed from the newsletter list and marked as unsubscribed; no newsletter is sent to you after that point. This record is kept as a suppression record that prevents you from receiving e-mails again — if it were deleted, the system could not recognise you and there would be a risk of e-mailing you again. If you want your record fully deleted, simply write to the address in §9 and it will be deleted upon your request.
8. Your Rights
Under KVKK Art. 11 you have the right to: learn whether your personal data are processed; request information if they are; learn the purpose of processing and whether the data are used accordingly; request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data; request erasure or destruction; request that correction/erasure be notified to third parties to whom the data were transferred; object to a result to your detriment arising exclusively from automated analysis of the processed data; and claim compensation if you suffer damage due to unlawful processing.
9. Application
To exercise your rights — including requesting the full deletion of your record — you may e-mail burak@burakengineering.com.tr. You may also end your subscription at any time using the unsubscribe link in the newsletter e-mails sent to you.
If you have not yet clicked the confirmation link, no newsletter is sent to you, so you will not receive an unsubscribe link either; in that case you need do nothing — your record is deleted automatically after the period stated in §7. If you wish, you may write to the address above to request earlier deletion.
10. Effective Date
This notice took effect on 17 July 2026. Any updates to the text will be published on this page.
